In my first blog post on Mission Statements I talked about how the blog, and really Peluso Presents as a holistic organization including my longer form writing, potential Soundcloud and YouTube content, could use a mission and vision statement. Clearly I’m inspired by the fact that most Professional Individual Contributors work in organizations that adopt these types of guiding statements.
Interestingly enough, mission statements aren’t just limited to businesses, blogs, and the business of blogs. In theory I could put together a mission statement for my life. According to MissionStatements.com; “A personal mission statement provides clarity and gives you a sense of purpose. It defines who you are and how you will live.”
I wonder how much of a personal mission statement is guiding, and how much of it is a description, of my personality? Is it who I am, or is it who I wish to be? On my first attempt, this is what I came up with:
Mike Peluso’s mission in life is to provide for his family, engage his community, and produce for his employer at the highest possible level of effectiveness. He will always focus on continuous improvement and alternative solutions in all of these areas. He will do so in a way that minimizes risk yet maximizes the potential for positive impact.
Mike Peluso’s maintains a vision for his life where he is always part of the solution to the challenges faced by all those in his circle of connections. When engaged, he will always aspire to excellence in everything he does.
Have you ever thought about what your vision and mission statement are? Wanna Share?
