Inspiration comes from the strangest places.

I’m not a Kevin Smith fan.  I don’t have anything against the guy or his work.  I don’t mind that he’s a huge proponent of marijuana use.  I don’t listen to his podcasts.   I’ve seen the movie Clerks so long ago all I can remember is that it’s in black and white,  but I haven’t really seen anything else he’s done.  I’ve just not really had the time/opportunity/motivation to get into his stuff.   Yet he’s still a massive Influence on my work.   He is in part a major reason why I’m writing this and why you’re reading this.

You see I am a fan of Greg Miller and Colin Moriarty and their work on Podcast Beyond.   I followed them to their breakout venture, Kindafunny.com  In one of their earliest shows they had on Kevin Smith and he discussed the idea of changing motivations and changing opportunities over time.  The opportunity now is that you can go direct to your audience, direct to the community (that’s you).   He really talked about not worrying about success because it comes and goes I believe his words were something like: sometimes the gravy is thick and sometimes it’s a little drop.  He advised Greg, Colin, Nick, and Tim to work through the hard times and do it because if you push through the hard times it’ll eventually take care of itself… In his words to them be motivated me to do it.. to get producing and not think about the hard times. He was part of the spark that got this going.. and if I ever meet the guy I’m going to buy him a beer (to go with his smoke) to say thanks!

Influence U discusses the things that inspire us to say “I can make that” or “I need to do that”.    These are the things that influences me, and hopefully they will empower you dear reader to seek out the things that Influence U.
