Let’s get this party started

Hello Friends.  Welcome to the very first post, the very first post of something that if I do my job right, will be the start of something big.   It will be something you can become a part of.   I’m writing this well before I get started in earnest because I wanted to create a record.  I fully expect my ideas to evolve over time.  So right now I thought I’d share with you the earliest kernels of my thoughts and see where they take me.

My first idea was to write a book.  A book about what I know better than most and what affects all of us. This book will be about the individual contributor in the modern business world.   At this earliest of writing I expect this project to include an ebook, an audio book version, a blog – which you are reading now- and possibly a podcast.  These are the first ideas because I believe they are all things I can do by myself but they are no way limited to what I would eventually like to do.  I’d like to be able to have international editions and translations of the book.  I would like to write additional books that are are deeper dives into the subjects in my first book and others that targeted toward different parts of the world.  It will be interesting to see how much of this I’m able to follow through on… but part of that isn’t about me, it’s about you:  this is the point where you come in dear reader.

You see books, blogs, podcasts.. they are nothing without community.  A community that helps shape the thinking, that subscribes to the podcasts, that buys the book, but most importantly that spreads the word.  If you are reading this then I believe you can be apart of this little community I hope we can build together.

Currently, logistically, I’m not ready to begin in earnest but  I believe firmly in one of the lessons of Seth Godin, which is a preference for shipping.. not waiting, not planning, just ship what you can.  That’s why the blog is starting even before I have the most basic of resources to start on the book in general.

So please subscribe to the blog.  If I get the podcasts off the ground then subscribe to them too.. spread the word.. it’s going to be an amazing journey.  I’m glad your going to be here for the ride.
