Greetings and Happy New Years! As is the tradition every year about this time, I publish a ‘Top 5 List’ where I post the top five (to me at least) articles of the year. They are listed in the order that they were published.
This is a unique list. At the end of April, I’m ending regular postings to my blog, so that makes this the final top five list I plan to publish. Thankfully it’s a very good list. It starts with the Three Facets of Relationships.

The Three Facets of Relationships
My take on the idea that successful marital relationships are much more about getting through life than they are about love and emotions. Warm and fuzzy emotions come and go throughout a relationship. So, when that happens the logical conclusion is that most people should still stay in the relationship because of everything else. I’ve found that concept isn’t popular with emotional decision makers.

Stories II: The Story You Told Yourself
The second of our top five list is actually a couple of articles with the same theme, that being that we tell ourselves stories, and those stories can mislead us if we let them.

The Big Picture: Ignoring Reality
The third article of the 2025 Top 5 list is all about ignoring that which is right there in front of you. The kind of thing that’s obvious to everyone except the person who’s experiencing it. If we can train ourselves to see these things in our lives, then we have a much better chance of avoiding the major negative consequences of them.

Entitlement, the idea we are owed something, can be a really caustic attitude. I’ve seen a misdirected sense of entitlement destroy friendships and families again and again. I don’t know that there is a solution to this particular problem. It’s everywhere and we all experience it to a greater or lesser extent. For the most part, it’s always bad and this article explores the stories of two individuals negatively impacted by entitlement.

Every now and again I write something that I think will be very controversial. This is one such post. The missive is designed to be a discussion on how there are different rules for the different sexes as it relates to the workplace. Specifically the rules really are there shouldn’t be sexuality of any sort in the workplace even if it’s encouraged in so many ways by our culture. My argument is that this affects women more than men. After you read it, i’d be interested to see your thoughts on the topic!
Well that’s it, the final Top 5. I hope you got something out of them. Stay tuned. Their are some really good articles coming up before we end regular posts on the Blog in late March.
